Trade shows in Abu Dhabi: work out the floor first

Trade shows in Abu Dhabi run almost entirely out of one building, and the hall you book inside it decides how many people you need working the floor. ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi publishes the floor area of every hall, so the staffing question has an arithmetic answer rather than a guess. By the end of this you will have that arithmetic, the 2027 dates that are genuinely published, and a checklist for choosing between a 3,167 sqm hall and a 7,919 sqm one.

One venue, twelve halls, one concourse

Dubai spreads its major shows across more than one venue estate. Abu Dhabi concentrates them. ADNEC lists twelve flat-roofed halls with moveable partitions, with a published hall range from 3,167 sqm to 7,919 sqm — better than two to one between smallest and largest.

The published figures for the individual halls:

  • Halls 1 to 6: 3,522, 3,169, 3,168, 3,607, 3,610 and 3,167 sqm
  • Halls 7 to 11: 5,143, 5,183, 4,409, 5,344 and 3,959 sqm
  • ICC: 7,919 sqm, listed as sub-divisible into four spaces

Halls 1 to 11 are listed at a 10 m ceiling height. The ICC is listed at 13.5 m. Across the site, ADNEC puts exhibition and event space at 55,000 sqm, the concourse at 17,108 sqm, and the total area including outdoor space at 153,678 sqm.

Two details matter more than the headline numbers. The halls are described as column-free and joinable with moveable walls, and a hall can be expanded to take in concourse space. So the hall is not a fixed container: the floor plan decides where your hall ends, and on a joined plan your nearest neighbours may sit where you expected a wall. Read the plan, not the hall number.

Count stands, not square metres

Square metres tell you about the building. Stands tell you about your day. Before committing to a stand position or a staffing budget, take the floor plan and count three things: total stands in your hall, stands in your own sector, and stands between you and the nearest entrance.

Then run this:

  1. Decide how many stands you want one person to hold a real conversation at, not walk past. That is your target.
  2. Time a useful conversation honestly. Eight minutes talking plus four walking and waiting is twelve minutes per stand on a busy floor.
  3. Multiply. Sixty target stands at twelve minutes is 720 minutes, or twelve hours of floor time.
  4. Divide by the usable floor hours in a day. A day advertised as nine rarely yields more than six once prayer times, lunch and the last-hour drop-off come out.
  5. Twelve hours against six usable hours is two people for one day, or one person across two.

Run that against a 3,167 sqm hall and against the 7,919 sqm ICC and the answers separate quickly, because the larger hall normally carries more stands and more walking between them. What moves the result is not hall area. It is stand count and distance. Our breakdown of how many staff you need at a trade show booth runs the same maths from the stand outwards.

The 2027 dates that exist, and the ones that do not

Abu Dhabi's forward calendar sits on the public record thinly for a venue this size.

IDEX and NAVDEX: 25 to 29 January 2027

IDEX publishes its next edition as 25 to 29 January 2027 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, with NAVDEX on the same dates. The organiser's figures for the 2025 edition were 206,000 visitors, 1,565 brands and exhibitors, 65 countries and 181,000 sqm of space. Those are 2025 numbers rather than a 2027 forecast, and the 181,000 sqm covers far more than the twelve halls — it takes in the outdoor demonstration and waterfront areas.

For an exhibitor the useful part is the shape: five days and a floor that runs outdoors. The rota is the planning problem, not the footfall.

ADIPEC, ICMM and everything else

At the time of writing, ADNEC's own upcoming-events listing names two events — ADIPEC and the 46th ICMM World Congress of Military Medicine — and prints no dates or venue against either, with no 2027 entries at all. That is not evidence the shows are not happening. It is a reason to take every date from the organiser's own site, and to treat third-party calendars quoting an Abu Dhabi 2027 date as unconfirmed.

Building a 2027 plan now, put IDEX and NAVDEX in with confidence and leave the rest as placeholders. Our ADIPEC lead generation guide covers how that floor works once dates are confirmed.

A five-day show is not three days plus two

Three days is a sprint you can staff with the people you flew in. Five days is a rota.

On the 2025 IDEX figures, 206,000 visitors across five days averages a little over 41,000 a day — arithmetic on the organiser's own number, not a prediction. The consequence is that no single day carries the show. Lose day four because two of your three people have lost their voices and you have lost a fifth of your floor, not a bad afternoon.

In practice:

  • Staff five days from the outset rather than three days plus improvisation
  • Rotate people off the floor mid-day, not at the end of it
  • Name a backup for each floor role before build-up, and agree in writing what triggers activating them
  • Put your strongest closer on the days your buyer's delegation is scheduled, which at defence and energy shows is rarely day one
  • Load and route leads the same evening, or a five-day show hands you a four-day-old lead

Checklist: choosing your hall at ADNEC

Work through these against the floor plan before you sign:

  • Hall area against the stand count on the plan. That ratio tells you how far your people will walk.
  • Ceiling height. Halls 1 to 11 are listed at 10 m, the ICC at 13.5 m. A double-decker or a tall rig is a hall-selection question, not a build question.
  • Access for anything large. ADNEC lists hall doors at 1.9 m wide by 2.1 m high, plus 38 vehicle entry doors. Anything wider than a doorway goes in through a vehicle door, which is a scheduling conversation with the organiser.
  • Whether your hall touches the concourse. The 17,108 sqm concourse is where people move between halls, and a hall opening onto it behaves differently.
  • Whether the plan joins your hall to another. Moveable walls mean the plan boundary may not match the hall number.
  • Sub-division. Hall 4 is listed as sub-divisible into three spaces and the ICC into four. A sub-divided hall can put a wall where you expected an aisle.
  • Where the entrances sit relative to your stand, and which way traffic flows.
  • Your own sector's cluster. Buyers walk sectors, not floor plans.

Abu Dhabi rewards a different qualifying approach from Dubai, covered in how lead generation in Abu Dhabi differs. On venue grounds, the Dubai venues breakdown is this page's counterpart.

What should exhibitors in Abu Dhabi check first?

How big is the exhibition space at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi?

ADNEC puts exhibition and event space at 55,000 sqm, with a 17,108 sqm concourse on top of that, and a total site area of 153,678 sqm including outdoor space. The twelve halls range from 3,167 sqm to 7,919 sqm. For stand selection the per-hall figure matters far more than the site total.

When is IDEX 2027, and where is it held?

IDEX publishes 25 to 29 January 2027 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, with NAVDEX on the same dates. By the organiser's count the 2025 edition drew 206,000 visitors and 1,565 brands and exhibitors from 65 countries. Confirm the dates on the organiser's own site before booking travel or stand space, because editions do move.

How many people do I need to cover one hall?

Count the stands in your hall on the floor plan, decide how many you want a real conversation at, allow around twelve minutes each including walking, then divide by the usable floor hours in a day. Lead volume depends on footfall, stand position, your offer and your own qualification bar, so read the output as a coverage figure rather than a promise.

Why can I not find 2027 Abu Dhabi show dates?

Because most organisers publish the next edition on their own site and nowhere else, and the venue's upcoming-events listing does not currently print dates against the events it names. Take every date from the organiser's own page. Where it is not published yet, record it as unconfirmed and set a reminder rather than trusting a third-party calendar.

Where Event BDR fits

Covering a hall is a headcount problem before a sales problem, and the arithmetic above usually produces a bigger number than the team an exhibitor planned to fly in. Event BDR places vetted, trained BDR reps on exhibition floors in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, booked by the specific event day, so a five-day Abu Dhabi show need not mean five days of travel and hotel for people you need on three. You choose the reps for each day and can name unpaid backups, billed only if you activate one on a no-show. Leads reach you as a real-time feed during the day and a recap at the end of it. What none of that does is promise a lead count: that depends on the hall, the floor plan and your own bar for a qualified lead. See which shows we are covering next and work back from the dates.

Cover the whole floor at your next event.

Brief trained reps, watch qualified leads land live, pay only for what they bring back.
